My GAMSAT journey started quite poorly.
As an older applicant I didn’t want to sit multiple times.
As I was working, I decided to spend $700 on a GradReady Question Bank to speed things up.
Well it did the opposite.
I was learning their content but still being completely lost when I attempted the ACER practice material.
So I ditched the resources and figured out exactly how to solve these problems.
Slowly but surely, I started seeing improvement and I ended up getting 77 in S3 and 70 overall on my first sitting.
My story is not unique
Unfortunately, getting lulled into garbage resources is all too common.
You know the guys. Fraser’s, Gold Standard, Medify. They’re all the same.
Maybe you’ve tried them (although I hope not).
Why are they garbage you ask?
Because they focus on content rather than what the exam really assesses.
I’ve heard of too many people sitting these courses but still being completely lost on exam day. Left wondering where it all went wrong.
What is really being assessed took me ages to figure out
But the answer is reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Interpreting dense, complicated, interrelated information you have never seen before. Making logical assumptions in uncertainty. Associating concepts.
